Everyone says that brown bread is better than white bread. Let’s see the difference.
Most of us used to eat white bread since our childhood. From peanut-butter sandwiches to grilled cheese, a sandwich that doesn’t appeal to us if it didn’t come wrapped in white bread; since in terms of taste and texture, white bread is softer, tastier and easier to chew.
But what the majority of us don’t really know is that white bread is made up of only the endosperm part of the wheat grain and the bran and germ have been removed. This is where much of the nutritional bread value is. That’s make it lower in zinc, fiber, thiamin, niacin, trace elements and “good” fats and oils. In addition it contains a high level of bad low-density lipoprotein cholesterol that can lead to blockages in the artery walls and high blood pressure.
Besides, as part of the manufacturing process, white bread is bleached with chemicals and fortified with vitamins and minerals to make it semi healthy, through an artificial process unlike brown bread.
On the other hand, brown bread or whole wheat bread includes all parts of the grain: the bran, endosperm and the germ. The whole wheat grain is richer in vitamin E, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B6 and trace elements of magnesium, calcium, zinc, chromium, manganese, selenium, vanadium, and copper, thus making the brown bread more nutritious and healthy than the white bread.
As well it contains lower of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, which is good for the human body. The effect of this is healthier arteries and normalized blood pressure.
Therefore brown bread is much healthier for you in every aspect and where white bread increases your risk of certain problems and diseases; brown bread will helps you in reducing them.
For all these reasons and much more, brown bread should be an everyday part in everyone’s nutrition. So eat brown bread and get some of those nutrients and vitamins that your body needs to function at best possible levels.
Pay attention, just because bread is brown, that doesn’t mean that it is good for you – some brown bread isn’t made using whole wheat or whole meal flour and is just as bad for you as white bread is. Always check the label to see if the brown bread includes wheat flour, enriched flour, hydrogenated oil or caramel. Avoid brown breads with any of these ingredients.
Do yourself a favor and make a simple “nutrition” switch from white bread to brown bread and tell us about the difference you will experience!
